Introduction

Pingyao Shuanglin Temple Colored Sculpture Art Museum is located in Pingyao County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. It is a special museum mainly for collecting, researching and displaying ancient Chinese Buddhist sculpture art. The museum was established in 1985 and built on the famous Shuanglin Temple. Shuanglin Temple was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and most of the existing buildings are relics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The museum has a rich collection, including artworks of different materials such as wood carvings, stone carvings, and brick carvings, among which painted clay sculptures are the most famous.
